Real Stories of Hypnobirthing and Natural Labour and Child Birth

We are so delighted to have received so many lovely birthing stories and testimonials from couples who have gone through our natural child-birth Hypnobirthing Courses.

We should not be amazed, (we have seen what great results young mothers achieve time and time again), but Katharine is extremely proud of her growing little army of Hypnobirthing babies.

Please read and enjoy these lovely stories from Mothers, Fathers, and midwives that have been involved in Hypnobirths. Do feel free to send in your own stories (even if you don't want them on the web site we'd still love to hear from you), and to ask any questions at all of Katharine and The Hypnobirthing Centre.

Thanks from Vic and Matt

Inspirational work!

I find the work you do inspiring. I have been present at Hypnobirthing births and seen how in control the women are, and how also the partners are a lot calmer and able to help, and what a difference it really does make to the start of parenthood for them.

Emilie

I never considered that I could!

I remember when I met my midwife for the first time during my booking. She surprised me by asking where I would like to have my baby. I answered: "At hospital of course!" I had never considered I could or would have a baby anywhere else but in a hospital. It was only later in my pregnancy that a student midwife asked if I'd considered a homebirth that I realised it was a real possibility.

The more I thought about it and looked into homebirth, the more I decided "this is what I want". My husband wasn't quite so enthusiastic, but after having a chat with my midwife and reading up on it, he agreed that it was a good idea. The reality was that it wasn't just a good idea, but the best decision I've ever made.

I had a fantastic labour and wonderful homebirth, which consequently inspired me to train as a midwife myself.

Thank you so much (again) for letting me come along and observe/take part in your classes - they were brilliant!

Take care,
Jenny Spriggs

Liliana's Hypnobirthing Experience

E-mail

Hi Katherine,

We wanted to let you know that we had our David on 6th November 2009 that was exactly his due date, everything was marvelous we followed the Hypnobirthing techniques and had the best experience ever.

We took the October Hypnobirthing sessions so had just 1 month left for reading the book listening the CD and practicing the relaxation techniques we came across to the Hypnobirthing quite late but anyway decided to do it as definitely we wanted a labor to remember we did not want to be like some couples that don't want to speak about it due all they passed through so we wanted something special for remembering and telling everybody and definitely we did it.

From the day we commenced our hypnobirthing course my attitude towards the birth of my child changed dramatically. An event that I was secretly dreading turned into something that I was really looking forward to. My partner was extremely supportive and towards the end of our pregnancy we were practicing at least one of the relaxation exercises each day.

On the evening of 20th July we went to bed at about midnight. I was cleaning my teeth when I felt a couple of lower twinges but convinced myself they were nothing as I knew if I actually believed I was in going into labour I would be too excited to sleep.

At 2:30am I switched the light on and asked Chris what was happening (as a father of 3 I thought he might have more of an idea than me!) to which he replied that he thought I was in labour. I immediately panicked as I hadn’t washed my hair for 4 days and had no intention of giving birth to my first child with greasy hair! I hopped into the shower and whilst in there my surges dropped to one about every 10 minutes to one every 4 minutes – something that at the time I put down to the impact of the water – goodness knows why! They continued every 4 minutes whilst I was blow drying my hair and, whilst for a couple of them I put down the dryer to concentrate on my breathing, the majority of the surges came and went with no discomfort.

How does Hypnobirthing work?

Hypnobirthing is a completely logical and extremely effective tried-and-tested method that lets you discover the joy and magic of birth, and is much more than just self-hypnosis or hypnotherapy.

It is deeply relaxing and effective, and allows your mind and your body to work in harmony, the way nature intended. Hypnobirthing is a complete ante-natal course.

Real HypnoBirthing Stories

Dear Katharine

Alex and I wanted to thank you SO much for such an enjoyable course over these last two weekends.

Not only do we feel that it has equipped us with the skills we need during labour and birth, but we think it has taken out some of the anxiety of actually being parents. My husband also feels that he could use some of the skills for other areas of his life.

The structure and content of the course flowed so well and you covered everything in such a way that was easy to understand and listen to.  Your own relaxed attitude towards natural childbirth put us at ease and, although I had told Alex some of the things you mentioned in the course, hearing them from somebody experienced (you) somehow seemed to help him believe that natural childbirth was possible and that if you gave birth squatting, the baby wouldn't fall on the floor!!

We will let you know how we get on with the birth of our first child but for now, we can't really express how valuable the course was to us and can only say, thank you very much.

Claire
