Some Frequently Asked Questions |
|
What is the best time to do the course?Do it when you’re ready – the sooner the better as courses can get fully booked nearer the time. I’ve taught someone who gave birth two days later and it worked perfectly well, but I would rather you did it sooner if possible. Do fathers come too? Most fathers attend the course (usually arriving with enormous scepticism and leaving with huge enthusiasm). It's lovely if a father does come because then he's in a position to give the mother the best possible support. It also makes a difference to their relationship, knowing that they've achieved this together. It makes a difference to his relationship with the baby too, knowing that he was a useful and positive part of how his child entered the world. Of course sometimes the father can't come and in many classes there are one or two mothers who come on their own for one reason or another, and HypnoBirthing still works perfectly well for them. Does the fee cover both of us?Yes, the fee covers the full course for mother and father (or birthing partner)What else does the fee cover?Included with the course are the Course Workbook, the course CD, and a folder of practical handouts. After you've completed the course, Katharine is available for telephone or email support without charge. She wants to support you in every way possible to have a natural and gentle birth.I can't do both days together. If you can't manage both days of a course, just select the first day from one course and the second day from another, and let us know what suits you best. Give us a call, and we'll do a registration form just for you. Computers are wonderful but rather inflexible and they can't cope with anything out of the ordinary; we can! You can do one day as a group class and one day as a private class too. Just call us and we'll sort it out. We know the difference HypnoBirthing makes and you don't yet, so we will do everything we can to make sure you get the benefits of this wonderful system.Should I bring or wear anything in particular? There is nothing in particular that you need to bring or wear to your class - just wear comfortable clothes so you can relax. We will be doing gentle visualisations and relaxations rather than any physical exercises. We will give you all the required course materials on the day so please just turn up and enjoy your class. Is the 2 day course effective?Yes, very! From experience it works every bit as well as doing the course in 4 evenings, and it's much more convenient. When I used to teach in the evening there was always someone who was delayed at work or stuck in traffic, and by the time a pregnant woman had done a full day's work she was nearly falling off her chair with tiredness by the end of the evening. When surveyed, the majority of couples said they preferred a two day course, slightly over half preferring both days to be in one weekend, and slightly under half saying they would prefer two days in two consecutive weekends with a week in between. From experience, both formats work equally well, so I have chosen to arrange my classes in a way that is most convenient for mothers and fathers. How many couples are there in a group? The size of the groups vary, depending on a great many factors including the venue, the time of year, and imponderables that I shall never understand. I think it's lovely to do HypnoBirthing in a group because you can meet other expectant couples, exchange ideas, and learn from their questions. The groups are kept small enough to be personal, and large enough to be friendly. What are the Terms and Privacy Policy of the web site? You can read our terms and conditions, and the privacy policy here. We respect your privacy and never pass your details to anyone else. We wouldn't want anyone to do that to us, and we don't do it to you.
