Mothers Hypnobirthing Stories

My baby was born a week early at home on 14th May at 6.01a.m. in 2hrs45mins (first baby) weighing 8lbs5ozs. It was supposed to be a water birth, but we only had time to get about 4ins of water in the pool.

My waters broke, and I woke up with strong surges and that was how it stayed throughout. When I phoned the midwife she said things like, ‘Have a bath and try to take some rest’, and she actually arrived 10 mins before George was born.

It was lovely. There was no pain. It was incredible. It was just so positive – the whole experience.

George is very contented.

At 5pm the midwife called, and I must have looked really calm because she said it wasn’t yet time to go to the birth centre.  At 7.40pm I said to my husband, “I have to push.”  He called the hospital which sent an ambulance straight away.  It’s only 2 or 3 minutes to the hospital, and our son was born 17 minutes after we arrived at two minutes past 8pm.

There’s no question that the HypnoBirthing works well.

We wanted to let you know that I gave birth to a girl last week who weighed 7lbs7ozs.  The HypnoBirthing techniques worked wonderfully during the 16 hour labour, although the urge to push overwhelmed me for the last 90 minutes!  Thank you so much for helping us to achieve the drug and intervention free home birth that we wanted.

Before the birth:
I have been telling everyone I know about the difference it has already made to me, and I have had numerous comments that I seem completely ready as I am so positive and excited.

After the birth:
It was all quite surreal really.  I felt so in control.  Not being scared.  I used the birthing pool which was fantastic, and it was all very positive.

He seemed completely settled when he came out.  He was so alert; looking around him right from the beginning.

Very positive.  It’s just not like anything else that’s ever happened.  I felt very calm about it.

We have had our little baby boy. Daniel Philip was born on Saturday at 6.00am – 7lbs 10z

Katharine, we wanted to send you a very special, huge thank you to you for everything you have done for us, taught us, and assisted us with. We would have never done it this way without your HypnoBirthing class. It gave us the confidence to go through the breech birth naturally, without any epidural (just a bit of gas and air), no tearing, no cutting, no stress for the baby.

Lucy, Oliver and Owens birthing story

E-mail

"I just wanted to let you know that on the 29th June (one week early) Oliver and I became the very proud parents of a little baby boy, we have named Owen.

I got my first surge at 2am but it just felt like a bit of a back ache. By 5am my surges were well established, so we called the midwife, who asked if the pain was manageable. When I told her I was in no pain she told us that, as this was my first baby, they would call around 7am to see if things had progressed. I walked about the house and continued to do my visualisations through each surge.

Birthing News

The Government policy that all healthcare professionals have indemnity insurance has been on hold for several years, pending an enquiry. That enquiry, the Finlay Scott Review began last year and has now been published, and recommends that indemnity insurance should become mandatory for all healthcare professionals, and be a requirement for registration.

As independent midwives are included in the group of ‘those for whom the market does not provide affordable insurance or indemnity’, the Departments of Health will decide if this service is necessary, and if so, devise a way of overcoming this issue.

word-docIf the Departments of Health fail to see the necessity of independent midwifery, then there is a chance that it will become illegal in the near future.  If you see the value in personalised, high quality, independent midwifery care, then we need your help in alerting the Government to this need.

If you agree that it would be terrible to lose this choice, please could you send an email to your MP and copy it to the relevant Department of Health (follow the ‘read more’ link for more information), and also print and send a hard copy? We have drafted a letter here which you are welcome to use.

Real HypnoBirthing Stories

I managed to get myself in such a relaxed state that I could nearly sleep in between surges. The breathing techniques were a life saver, and I used this the whole time.

Michael helped me throughout with the breathing and relaxation, so I highly recommend partners to be totally involved.

Thanks for all your help. I couldn’t have done it without Hypnobirthing.
