May 12, 2010 – 8:49 amI’ve just had another email asking if someone can mix and match the two days of the Hypnobirthing course to fit around their holiday. The answer of course is, ‘Yes, I’ll do everything I can to make it easy for you because I know how important it is,’ but the question sometimes concerns me.
A holiday for just the two of you is very special before your baby is born, but what is really important? The thing is, I know what a non-hypnobirthing labour is like, and I know what a difference hypnobirthing makes both to you, and therefore to your baby’s start in life which affects the whole of the rest of its life too. If you knew this now, there would be absolutely no question that you would move heaven and earth to get to the hypnobirthing class.
I also know what the Hypnobirthing course is like, how practical it is, how powerful it is, how interesting it is. As yet, you don’t. I know one thing for sure and that is that it won’t be as you expect. From time to time a couple book in to the course for Day 1 and only the mother can come to Day 2 because the father has work commitments. At the end of Day 1 they tell me he is changing his flights so they can both be there because now they realise how important it is.
Hypnobirthing cannot guarantee a pain free birth, though that can happen, but I can say with certainty that it always makes a difference, and a very big difference.
You need it and, even more important, your baby needs it.
